Victoria Basin Marina, Gloucestershire

A modern and well maintained Marina forming part of the Historical Docks at Gloucester.

Victoria Basin is one of the many jewels in the crown of the great historic English city of Gloucester.  Once the UKs most inland shipping port vital for the transfer of goods and raw materials, the Citys Docks were a bustling link between Britain and the rest of the world.  Along with additional corn warehouses and timber yards Victoria Basin was constructed by the Canal Company in 1849 to accomodate the major increase in foreign vessels that visited the Docks loading and unloading over a million tonnes of cargo each year.

Today the cargo ships have long gone and Victoria Basin provides up to 55 moorings for a variety of craft including narrow boats, motor cruisers, yachts and tall ships. 

There is a lot on offer, as you might expect, from a city that has witnessed so much history including an extensive choice of museums, from the National Waterways Museum to the Solidiers of Gloucestershire Museum, or if live sport is more your thing, enjoy top class rugby at Kingsholm and watch the Gloucester rugby team take on the best in Europe.  Alternatively for the shopaholics amongst us Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet has an outstanding mix of high street and designer labels to browse.
